Regarding the news, “the year of employment in military school should not be included for Military Personnel with lifetime retirement payment,” Ministry of National Defense claimed that the Regulations of Assumption for Year of Employment and Every Period in Military School could be explained as follows:

Ⅰ. The purpose of the pension reform is to encourage current personnel to remain long in their employment. The more the year of employment they have, the more benefit payment they will get after retirement. Taking the military personnel as the main principle, according to Article 4, “regular military officers, regular military soldiers, starting from the day of being military personnel,” and Article 23.1.2, “those who have served more than 20 years can get the lifetime retirement payment for the uniform service monthly based on current year of employment,” of Act of Military Service for Officers and Noncommissioned Officers of the Armed Forces, current personnel who have served 20 years since June 23, 2018 are able to get the retirement payment for the uniform service and the year of employment in the military school can also be included.

Ⅱ. For those personnel whose enrolment in the military school was before December 31, 1996 (superannuation), the year of employment can be included while retiring. For those personnel whose enrolment in the military school was after January 1, 1997 (reserve deposit system), the year of employment can be included after the fund fees have been paid for the year of employment during the military school.

Ⅲ. The year of employment in the military school can be included for the personnel who were retired after June 5, 1998 according to Article 23.2 of Act of Military Service for Officers and Noncommissioned Officers of the Armed Forces.
